Know Your Rebels: Taylor Moore
February 17, 2005

Rebel: Taylor Moore

Age: 15

Representing: Chicago, IL

Status: Sophomore at Kenwood Academy High School

Why you should fear her: A sought-after inspirational speaker on the topic of abstinence, excellence, and non-violence to young people. Taylor Moore has been commanding crowds around the country since she was 10-years-old. She is the youngest speaker on the Project Reality team, an organization focused on abstinence education. In addition to public speaking, Moore is a certified cable television producer and host. She hosts three shows locally on the Chicago Cable Access Network: "Making It," "Words to Live By," and "Behind the Scenes."

In addition to all this, Moore is also an excellent student ranked in the top five percent of her class and has been named to Who's Who Among High School Students. She's a percussionist, pianist and composer.

Moore has been honored by the Governor of Illinois, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, 4-H Club and many others. At only fifteen, she's definitely one to watch.

Very impressive and maybe a little scary! While I was very precocious at that age myself, (or perhaps because I was) I can't help but hope she still takes the time to enjoy her childhood.

Kenwood is a pretty decent school--one of the few in Chicago. Now I'm going to try to check out those shows she's in.

I don't think this is a case of a Michael Jackson childhood missed; I think she's walking in her purpose and enjoying the ride.

Ms. Moore seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Looking back, I question having 15 year olds doing abstinence education though. Honestly, the serious pressure years don't start until the kids can drive. I would much rather see my kids taught by a 22 year old who is leaving college with their virginity intact, but still young enough for them to relate.

I was educated in abstinence by a young woman in high school while I was in junior high. Unfortunately, my "instructor" got pregnant (and still unmarried) at college before she hit drinking age. Hopefully she and Taylor aren't too much alike.

To Jeff the Baptist, I think he's just jealous of the great works that Taylor Moore has accomplished.Pressures are brought to children at all different ages, and now the age of young people being pressured into having sex is at a very young age.I think that having Taylor,15, speak to other 15 year olds and older, about abstience, can relate, because as beatiful as she is, I'm sure she has to deal with the same thing. However, she's able to resist because she has her head on straight.
I think that is exactly what is wrong with our society today. People such as Jeff the Baptist, not giving 100 percent of their support to young people trying to advance in life. I think that Taylor Moore is truly a great inspiration to BOTH young and old alike!!!!!!

Aw man, you missed your chance!
