Sorry that I have to ask, but could you please explain to me how Colin Powell is not a Black American Secretary of State (therefore making it possible for Dr. Rice to be the first)?

I am aware that there are people out there who have strong feelings about more recent African immigrants or their decendents using "African American" - but I cannot understand how Powell, who grew up in the Bronx, fails to qualify as a Black American. (Was there a typo, or am I ignorant of some distinction and just being culturally insensitive?)

btw, I'm sorry to see him go. I admire him a great deal think he represented us well abroad.

As for Tavis, yes he did up the ratings, but not to the degree he'd hoped. C'mon, even you know that. He left citing LACK OF DIVERSITY IN LISTENERS.
