So I was thinking...

One of the signs that your celebrity career has jumped the shark must be when you get asked to perform or partake in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Just an observation. Continue in the festivities...I know I will.

I wanna say the expression "Jumped the Shark" came from from a particular Mork and Mindy episode where they actually jumped a shark, thus signifying a quick downward spiral of popularity of the show. It could be wrong on the origin however.

Since that time, the phrase "jumped the shark" is commonly used to signify when a television show or career has taken a turn for the worst and should be coming to a quick halt.

A few examples...
- On Friends when Ross and Rachel got back together yet, AGAIN.
- On the Fresh Prince of Belair when they changed mothers in the middle of the season.
- On Family Matters when daughter Judi just disappeared off the show. OR, when Laura and Steve finally hooked up.

The term jumped the shark, comes from a happy days episode where Fonzi jumped over a shark wearing his trade mark leather jacket.
